IT Trainer

The IT Training Team sits within our Group Change function within the wider CIO department. Our CIO team is responsible for providing clients and staff with high quality relevant technology, customised systems and superior service and support to ensure our business needs are always met. Based across the UK, the CIO department includes around 90 people and includes talented architects, developers, project managers, engineers, business analysts and service desk support people. This is an ever changing and exciting area to work in as we constantly look for new and innovative ways to provide the most effective solutions for our business.

Role Context

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic IT Trainer to proactively manage and support the delivery of all training for new and existing IT products and services as a result of strategic, compliance and business improvement needs across the Group.

Role Purpose 

The IT Trainer will liaise with the CIO Management Team, CIO Project Managers, PMO and various representatives across the business practice areas to ensure the training is aligned to key projects rather than “off the shelf” training and build a full a comprehensive training programme for each new software/ service deployment, system overhaul and upgrade.

What you will be doing:

  •  Deliver bi-weekly on-site inductions in Lewes, update and refresher training in the agreed use of applications. 
  • Design and maintain a range of self-serve training materials to drive and support the consistent and efficient use of applications. 
  • Ensure training materials are maintained and reflect changes in updates / upgrades / internal customisation to applications. Undertake a regular analysis of training needs to drive the focus of refresher training. 
  • Work with the IT support team to prioritise beneficial changes to applications identified during training to help drive efficiency and consistent application usage. 
  • Liaise with stakeholders to design and deliver specific training sessions around a business process within an application.
  •  Travel to other sites (mainly Sussex based, but wider travel may be required) to deliver refresher training or other training sessions (such as drop-in sessions) as needed. 
  • Understanding the firm’s business and IT strategy ensuring that everything undertaken by training is aligned with the Group’s strategy 
  • Establishing and managing a “customer care” training delivery function 
  • Establishing continuous improvement of end-to-end training delivery capabilities 
  • Building & developing key relationships with senior business stakeholders and internal IT colleagues/peers to agree training delivery and improvement plans

What you will need:

  • Practical working knowledge of Legal applications e.g. case and practice management systems such as Peppermint, iManage and Aderant. 
  • Excellent computer literality is essential, including advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office.
  •  Excellent communication and writing skills. Ability to learn new systems with limited guidance. 
  • Excellent skills in creation of computer-based training. Experience in the different methodologies of training delivery, e.g. Captivate, Camtasia
  •  A strong knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice
  •  Ability to interact professionally with people at all levels. Flexibility, pragmatic and proactive approach with a high standard of personal presentation.
  •  Ability to work under pressure and against tight time scales.
  • Ability to travel as training across all our hubs will be required on a national basis.
